Mary M. House has been a practicing lawyer for the last 19 years representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants, businesses and individuals, in various civil litigation matters, including personal injury cases, and in a general practice.

Prior to moving to McDonough in 1998, she lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Mary practiced law with the Atlanta law firm, Gorby, Reeves, Moraitakis & Whiteman, primarily representing school boards, doctors and major companies throughout the state of Georgia. She additionally served as in-house counsel for the Georgia Department of Education under State School Superintendent Werner Rogers from 1988-1989.

Mary received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University in December of 1983. She graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in the top 20% of her class in May 1987. During law school, Mary was a Moot Court Board Member, a Legal Research Teaching Assistant, and served as the Phi Delta Phi Treasurer.

Mary has also been very active in public service activities since living in Henry County. In addition to providing at least 40 hours of pro bono work to indigent residents of our county on a yearly basis, she also serves on the Board of Directors for Haven House, the family violence shelter in Henry County, and serves on the Board of Directors for Prevent Child Abuse/Henry County. Additionally, she was selected for the Leadership Henry Class of 2005, and was elected to the Leadership Henry Board of Directors for the Henry County Chamber of Commerce the same year. She is also a member of the Henry County Bar Association, and served as its Treasurer in 2004, and its President in 2005.

With respect to non-legal public service activities, she is active in her church and her children’s school and extra-curricular activities. She is married to her law school sweetheart, Mark C. Walker, and has two sons, Cole and Jamie.
